Inorganic Filling Modification of PBAT

Activated calcium carbonate has a high reinforcing effect in PBAT modification due to its very small particle size and high activity. The use of activated calcium carbonate in the modification of PBAT blends requires the addition of a certain amount of compatibilizer to improve the physical and mechanical properties of the product. The material modified by calcium carbonate can be rapidly and completely biodegradable, and greatly reduces the cost of the product, which has better practicality for the manufacture of film bags, etc.

It was found that the tensile properties of PBAT/ultrafine calcium carbonate blends were largely improved when the mass fraction of ultrafine calcium carbonate was 10% and the mass fraction of compatibilizer was 3 parts when Biodegradable PBAT Raw Materials was filled with ultrafine calcium carbonate for modification. When the mass fraction of ultrafine calcium carbonate reached 20%, it still had good mechanical properties after being made into film bags. In addition to calcium carbonate there are also talc and montmorillonite as inorganic fillers to modify PBAT, which can effectively reduce the cost of PBAT blends and enhance some of the properties.
