Development of Bio-based PBAT in China

On April 29, 2022, China's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) issued a notice on the publication of the 2022 annual project declaration guidelines for the National Key R&D Program "Green Biomanufacturing" and other key special projects. Among them, it is proposed to focus on the research and development of bagasse PLA, bio-based PBAT Pellets to promote the resource utilization of renewable agricultural and industrial wastes and realize the green preparation of all bio-based degradable materials as the goal, and carry out the research on the key technology of green manufacturing of all bio-based degradable packaging materials. By using renewable food industrial wastes such as fruit pomace and sugarcane bagasse as raw materials, fermentable sugar, fermentable lactic acid and synthetic polylactic acid (PLA) will be prepared through biological process technologies such as efficient pretreatment, construction of engineering strains, intelligent fermentation and precise separation of products to solve the current problems of low comprehensive utilization rate of renewable agricultural and industrial wastes.
