PBAT PLA Materials

As the demand for eco-friendly materials increases, researchers and manufacturers are working towards creating biodegradable products. PLA (poly lactic acid) is one such material that is widely used. It is made from plant-based sources such as cornstarch or sugarcane, making it a renewable resource. However, PLA has limitations when it comes to strength and durability. To overcome this, we have focused on mixing it with PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate).

PBAT PLA materials are a combination of biodegradable polymers. PBAT is a flexible, durable material that adds strength and flexibility, while PLA is a rigid material that is cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Mixing these two polymers creates a material that is ideal for numerous applications, including packaging, disposable utensils, and bags.

PBAT PLA materials degrade naturally in a matter of months. When exposed to sunlight, heat, or moisture, microorganisms break down the PBAT PLA materials into simple organic compounds that are harmless to the environment.

PBAT PLA materials are also safe for food contact. They comply with FDA regulations, making them perfect for food packaging and disposable utensils. They are resistant to grease and oil and can be used to make disposable cups, plates, and cutlery.

Apart from PBAT PLA materials, there is also the PBAT-filled PLA and starch composites. This combination has a higher level of biodegradability and can be used in various applications, including agriculture films, shopping bags, and mulching films.
