Overmolded TPU

Overmolded TPU is a manufacturing process that involves encapsulating TPU particles onto different materials. It is one of the most important methods for molding TPU and has various applications due to its ability to showcase the unique features of TPU. These features include soft touch (for handle grips and sports equipment), anti-slip (for wheels, coasters, mats, and footpads), and sound absorption (for audio devices).

Overmolded TPU

There are two mechanisms for Overmolded TPU, depending on the product structure and the desired encapsulation effect.

The soft TPU is fused onto the hard plastic or other materials at the bonding surface through heat and melting.

TPU and hard plastic or any other material do not require fusion to achieve encapsulation. Proper encapsulation structures, such as overall encapsulation or structural processing, are utilized to enhance TPU's bonding strength to the hard material, such as adding holes, grooves, or other processing techniques.
