Process Flow

Melt-Blown PP Pellet is the raw material of the meltblown nonwovens. The process principle of the meltblown method is shown in Figure 1. The polymer masterbatch is put into the extruder and melted in the extruder at a temperature of about 240°C (for polypropylene a the main resin used in the meltblown method). The melt passes through a metering pump and reaches the meltblown die head. The metering pump measures the melt flow output to the nozzle. The nozzle is a row of capillary tubes with a spacing of less than 1 mm and a diameter of 0.2 to 0.4 mm. On either side of the capillary is the air inlet, which is filled with compressed air at 250 to 300°C. In the just formed polymer extrusion spinneret, the head end of the compressed air acts on the polymer to draw the hot filament to a diameter of 1~10μum with an airflow higher than the speed of sound (550m/s), according to its physical properties this net is called microfiber net. The hot air mixes with the surrounding air as it flows downward, cooling and eventually solidifying the fibers into short, fine fibers.
The main process flow of meltblown method is as follows:
Melt preparation → filtration → metering → melt extrusion from the spinneret hole → melt fine flow drafting and cooling → net formation
