Color Masterbatch, is a new type of colorant for polymer materials, also known as Pigment Preparation. Color Masterbatch is mainly used in plastics. Masterbatch is composed of three basic elements: pigment or dye, carrier and additive, and it is an aggregate made by evenly loading an extraordinary amount of pigment into the resin. It can be called Pigment Concentration, so its coloring power is higher than the pigment itself. By mixing a small amount of masterbatch with uncolored resin during processing, the coloring resin or product can reach the designed pigment concentration.

Basic Components

Pigments or dyes

Pigments are divided into organic pigments and inorganic pigments

Commonly used organic pigments include: phthalocyanine red, phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, sun-resistant big red, macromolecular red, macromolecular yellow, permanent yellow, permanent purple, azo red, etc. Commonly used inorganic pigments include: cadmium red, cadmium yellow, titanium dioxide, carbon black, iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, etc.

Carriers

The carrier is the substrate of the masterbatch. Special color masterbatches generally choose the same resin as the product resin as the carrier, and the compatibility between the two is best, but the fluidity of the carrier should also be considered.

Dispersing agents

Dispersants promote uniform dispersion of pigments and prevent coalescence. The dispersant should have lower melting point than resin, good compatibility with resin and good affinity with pigment. The most commonly used dispersants are: polyethylene low molecular wax, stearate.

Additives

Such as flame retardant, brightening, antibacterial, antistatic, antioxidant and other varieties, unless requested by the customer, in general the color masterbatch does not contain the above additives.
